This story brought a goofy grin to my face. I love it + the sunny flowers + your energy that comes across in everything you write.

I’ve watched you grow into these sunflowers 🌻 just doing what you love and connecting w/ people. Inspiring!!

My dahlias are taller than me this year despite not getting any love or attention from me over the summer. You’re inspiring me to add sunflowers to my empty bed for next year.

Oooh, I want to add dahlias!! Do you plant them in fall like I would tulips? Last fall was my first experimenting with bulbs.

Dahlias plant in early spring after last frost. Some people take out the tubers over the winter and replant. I’ve just left mine in the ground. This is their third season and they thrived despite my apparent black thumb this year.

Joe plants sun flower seeds of all kinds, and our next door neighbor always comments on how happy she is to see them peeking over the (tall) fence.

Are there any kinds you’ve had good luck with? I feel like it’s now a block tradition and I’ve set a high bar!

I will ask Joe (he’s in Pokhara at the moment). He’s grown a bunch of different kinds. The red ones were gorgeous
