Liz- I love the midsummer-heat quality of this entire piece. But my favorite sentence was probably: "I floated out of the auditorium and twirled in the street, laughing." Perhaps because it reminds me so much of why I love the impact places has on our stories? Anyhow, thanks for this. Hope you're well this week? Cheers, -Thalia

Ha that makes two of us. A great outlet for my silly, slightly exhibitionist tendencies.

I so hear this. I played the piano very seriously as a child and always mean to go back to it. I even have the piano I had as a child in my apartment and simply can't seem to get myself to get it tuned and take it for a whirl. Maybe this is the motivation I need!

Totally, I always wish I had kept with piano long enough to play now just for my own pleasure. How wonderful to have a piano! And you’ll get to experience music anew with Eloise.

I assume that are dozens of adult choirs in your area ranging from highly select to “y’all come and sing” with us. Some will concentrate on classical music, only, and others will focus on Broadway literature or a combination of classical and popular music. Seasons typically run from September to May with three or four concerts during that span. You should easily find a choir that suits your needs. Have fun!!

Yes!! I have been looking at some choirs more in my neighborhood that are more in the everyone-welcome popular music variety! I had no idea this world existed, I’m excited to go this in the spring when I get a bit more settled in my new freelance routine.

This is a really fun and relaxed one that meets in Gowanus: https://nychoirproject.com/brooklynite-choir

(I sang with them for a couple of years; currently taking a break, but I may go back again eventually.)
